6 October 2014: 5 months and 14 days after the pump and I joined forces….Two hospital appointments kick started the day….
Next…Diabetic Clinic….Where my consultant presented me with this piece of paper! I never expected to see an HbA1c of 43 = 6.1 blurrily staring back at me! I couldn’t stop smiling. What a difference a pump makes!!
I know it’s not all about HbA1c’s. But, looking at it in terms of general control, there’s no two ways about it, that’s a marked improvement compared to the pre pump HbA1c of 62/7.8 and 64/8.0 after a month in.
Using the HbA1c as a tool along with BG targets, BG averages, making the right diet and exercise choices all help me to focus on control. Of course I fall off the wagon from time to time, I’m only human and who isn’t partial to a sweet treat every now and then…After all a little of what you fancy does you good!
It’s about balance. and not getting disheartened by the bad days (we all have them, where Diabetes won’t play ball) but staying focused and remembering anything is possible!
I meant to write something about this at the time but you know how it is, it’s not all about D….there’s life to live! X
